About
Charlton Park is one of Greenwich's Green Flag Award-winning sites.
This beautiful leafy park with large areas of open grassy parkland, bordered by an array of trees that is ideal for informal sports or picnics alike. It is also home to large floodlit playing fields for sports clubs, a skate park, adiZone outdoor gymnasium There is a large children's playground that includes integrated access for wheelchair users.
It also shares the stunning grounds of Charlton House and is home to a number of gardens, including a Japanese-style herb garden called the "Peace Garden" which was opened by Amnesty International and adjoining "Pond Garden" that is actually a beautiful walled sensory garden behind stable houses. The special focus of the sensory nature of these gardens is for visitors with visual or physical disabilities.
The east side of the park caters for sports and fitness. There are football pitches and a floodlit grass training area with changing facilities for hire. There is also a cricket pitch which is used by Blackheath Cricket Club.
There is free to use outdoor gym equipment and table tennis tables, along with a children's playground, skate park and nearby refreshment facilities.
The park ranger service organises walks every Tuesday at 10am from the rear lawn of Charlton House. Charlton Park is also part of the Green Chain Walk.
