Visit the small village of Charlton to see one of the finest examples of a Jacobean Mansion within London. Charlton House is set amongst beautiful parkland that runs uninterrupted down to the nearby river Thames where you'll find one of the engineering marvels of the world – the Thames Barrier, quietly protecting London from flood. Not far away is The Valley which is home to local football team, Charlton Athletic.
