About
The Royal Greenwich Heritage Trust was created in 2014 for the care and conservation of the Royal Greenwich museum collections. Started in 1902, those collections now include thousands of artefacts from the fields of geology, natural history, social history, archaeology, printmaking, and painting. Following substantial investment by the Royal Borough of Greenwich in 2018, the museum collections and archive are now housed under the one roof, in Charlton.
Archive resources housed in the complex include photographs, manuscripts, records, prints, newspapers, and books relating to Royal Greenwich, the former Metropolitan Boroughs of Greenwich and Woolwich, and their predecessors. While the archives are closed to the public, Royal Greenwich Heritage Trust does invite research enquiries, even offering the first half hour of research free of charge.
