A one-day celebration of yarn and friendship for knitters, crocheters and makers

About

Make Joy is a one-day celebration of yarn and friendship for knitters, crocheters and makers. Featuring a curated marketplace of local makers from London and further afield with hand-dyed and rare breed yarns, notions and more. Enjoy free talks from designers and makers within the craft industry, and enjoy a coffee or prosecco while making new friends in the Maker's Lounge.

Talks:

Storytelling Through Hand Knitting with Sylvia Watts-Cherry
In each stitch that we knit, the yarn colours we use tell a story and tell stories about us. Knitting can also be a way of preserving cultural records and passing them down through generations.

In this presentation, Sylvia shares her creative journey and show she communicates her sense of identity through hand knitting and embraces the art of storytelling through her designs.

Overcoming Adversity Through Crochet: In Conversation with Helda Panagary
Craft brings comfort to so many of us and sees us through the best and worst of times. In this interview-style discussion, Inside Crochet designer Helda will share how crochet and a love of colour has helped her overcome challenges and led to a career in design.

Wild & Woolly x Knit15 Presents: Knitters’ Question Time
From straightening out your wobbly rib to re-sizing advice. From finding the right pattern for your knitting mood to making friends with colour. From locating your lost knitting mojo to puzzling out intarsia on a seamless sweater, we’ve all got questions we wish we had answers to. They may be big, small, technical, spiritual, radical, practical, or even slightly ridiculous.

* Talks are included with admission to Make Joy and will take place in Coopers Studio.
