Learn fan making techniques from an experienced tutor

About

The Fan Museum offers fan making workshops for anyone wishing to try their hand at fan construction, from beginners right the way up to experienced makers who want to meet like-minded people.

What does a fan making workshop entail?
At this workshop, participants will be joined by experienced fan maker, Caroline Allington, for a three hour session in the Museum on the first Saturday of each month. Each person attending will create two common types of fan.

Sets of fan sticks, fan making equipment and implements are included in the workshop price. Each participant will be required to bring two sheets of unfolded paper (non-glossy wrapping paper is ideal, no tissue paper or foil please) at least A3 in size.

A tea/coffee break will be included during each session. Each workshop session will also feature a brief introduction to the historic use (and different styles) of fans by Caroline and the Museum Director and Founder, Mrs Hélène Alexander MBE.

Workshop group sizes are limited to 6 people to ensure that each participant will receive adequate guidance from the facilitator.

NOTE: These workshops are very popular and spaces are limited - Book early to avoid disappointment!
